Tiirin Golf
Our latest new design is Tiirin Golf, in Nilsiä, Finland.
It is a 9 hole course that is designed having especially
the beginners in mind. The holes are not too long thus
making it fun for the short hitters. The contoured
greensites provide
interest and challenge also for the skilled players by
challenging your short game skills.
"In my opinion the design of Tiirin Golf is

Jari Rasinkangas has made. I have found him to
be very professional in his work and regard him
as very talented golf architect. It was always
a pleasure to work with Jari. In addition to
course design he has been an invaluable help by
creating new business and marketing ideas for
the project.
What amazes me most is Jari's ability to design
such a good routing he did. Even though most
of the site was completely filled with trees
and bushes, the course fits the land and the
surroundings really well. Every hole has a
different feeling and character of its' own.
In addition to good playability and esthetics
the course is also technically well designed.
First class technical plans ensured easy and
fast construction. Jari was also always
prepared to work on site. During construction
period he maintained a constant site supervision
at least every two weeks to ensure the quality
of the design.
The design of Tiirin Golf was not an easy task.
We wanted to have a course that would be easily
playable even for the beginners but still
interesting for better players. We also wanted
to have a quality course but still keep the
construction costs low. Now when the course
is ready all that has been fulfilled!
Our project lasted more than four years during
which time Jari's commitment was first class.

Oulu Golf Course
The Oulu Golf Course is designed by Golfplan - Fream, Dale
& Ramsey Golf Course Architecture. When new 9 holes were
added Jari Rasinkangas did the land survey and supervised
the construction.
The 5th hole, a short par 3, must be the signature hole of
the course:
"When walking the land I found some big boulders on top of
a hill. When David Dale from Golfplan visited the site the
first time I suggested to him that maybe we could try to
create something special by using these boulders as strategic
and visual elements. During the design process the design
of the hole was changed many times until we got the best
solution to fit the green between the boulders.
Because the boulders could be too intimidating for the players,
we decided to make a huge green that would be very easy to
hit from the tees. To add some challenge we designed
quite wild contours on the green to provide different
hole locations and fun when putting.
The big boulders around the green needed also heavy
contours to fit the hole naturally with its surroundings.
That is why the final shaping was carefully designed on site.
The green has many different kinds of hole locations.
The hole is a real birdie hole when having the flag on an
easy location but the most challenging locations need a
careful judgement even by the top players."

When pre-planning the course the usual need is to find out how
much land is needed for the golf
course and how the course can be set on the site. Quite often
there is also a need to fit some other functions on the site
such as a holiday resort.
